On the 25th of June Teachookid Youth Information Centre invited young people from Embalenhle to create an awareness about the dangers of substance abuse this is a serious issue and has been plaguing the youth especially in the proximity of the center.
The event was attended by Officials from the Department of Social Development Including our Community Development Practitioner Mr. Thembinkosi Ngwenya, As well as the local counsellor Ms Joanna Ndlovu.
This was a very Sucessfull Event and we hope we made an impact
On the 18th of July The Staff of Teachookid youth information centre went to Paulina Morapedi Clinic as part of the International Day Initiative. We Cleaned the Clinic and assisted where they we were required.
We Started at 10am and finished at 1pm it was a worthwile experience and the clinic was grateful for our efforts.
On the 22nd and 26th of July Teachookid Youth Information Center alon with Stakeholders from Vaal University of Technology, The National Youth Development Agency, Gert Sibande College visited Sizwakele Secondary School to provide career guidance to Grade 12 Learners our Stakeholders informed the learners about the available opportunities at their various organisations and institutions.
On our Side as Teachookid Youth Information Centre Donated sanitary towels to school as we all aware about the challenge facing young girls who cannot afford sanitary towels end up missing almost half of their schooling year due to this unfortunate situation they find themselves in.
We made such an impact with this event it appeared in the local newspaper the Ridge Times and the school principal from sizwakele will forward us a letter thanking us for our efforts.
On the 13th of August as part of Women's month Teachookid Youth Information Centre hosted a Life skills/Netball Tournament at Maphala Gulube Netball Field where a Life Skill session was hosted by Humana and then afterwards a four team Netball tournament took place where winners were awarded a floating tropy and gold medal as well a cash prize.
The runners up and third place finishers were also compensated, this event also made the local newspaper the Ridge times in the sports section.
We also donated equipment to the participating teams such as balls for them to continue playing, we will be making this an annual tournament to encourage young women to be active in sports.
